BILL ORR, JR. Mr. William Parker "Bill" Orr, Jr., 54, former nineteen year veteran of the Columbia police department, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at his residence on Forrest Street in Lewisburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Darryl Martin officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Maury County native was the son of Mary Josephine Simmons Orr of Columbia and the late William Parker Orr, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School and served twelve years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, and the VFW. In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Marlene Atwood Orr of Lewisburg; four sons, Brian Spivey of Franklin, Will (Maree) Orr of Lewisburg, Marty (Debbie) Moore of Sumter, South Carolina, Monty (Patty) Moore of Deridder, Louisiana; one daughter, Celene (Alvin) Lightsey of Sumter, South Carolina; four brothers, Doug Orr of Nashville, Ronnie (Linda) Orr, Dennis Orr both of Columbia, Steve Orr of Lewisburg; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be officers from the Columbia Police Department. Honorary pallbearers will be Columbia Police Department officers and members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
