William Turner Mr. William C. "Bill" Turner, 80, retired long-time employee of Weather Tamer and resident of Cherry St., died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon, Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Allman and Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. In 1949 he married Alma Marie Shelton Turner who preceded him in death August 3, 1984. In 1989 he married Wilma R. Johnson Turner who preceded him in death July 25, 2003. Survivors include one son, Rickey Ray (Demetria) Whitby of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Teresa Ann Whitby Weston of Detroit, Michigan; two step-daughters, Mrs. Janice Bennett, Mrs. Mildred Lovett both of Columbia; two step-sons, Mike Morton, Steve Morton, Sr. both of Columbia; one grandson, William Michael (fiancée, Cassandra Petry) Weston; three granddaughters, Amy (Anthony) Kyser, Veronica D. Whitby, Tanna J. Whitby, Jennifer Ranee (Jeffery K.) Lambdin; five step-grandchildren, Keith Brady, Leeann Cothron, Stephen Morton, Bethany McCrary, Ken Lovett; ten great-grandchildren, Eric Justin Bennett, Meghen Brianne Bennett, Christian Tyler Price, Jalen Alexander Conner, Madison Marie Lambdin, Caleb Elliott Lambdin, Chyanne Ranae Weston, Markia Petry, Joey Stewart, Ken Stewart; four nieces, Joan Sweeney of Mt. Pleasant, Becky Hight of Columbia, Shirley McCord and Betty Watkins both of Franklin; three nephews, Michael Mosley of Alabama, Fred Davis and Steve Davis both of Mt. Pleasant; and his loving companion, Buster. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Davis and Ellen Mosley. Pallbearers will be Stephen Morton, Ken Lovett, Charles Bennett, andBilly Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of Weather Tamer.
