Billie Jane Temples Pitts, 86, homemaker and resident of Randlin Drive in Culleoka, died Monday, August 26, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Tim McHenry, Corey Bell, and Russell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Thursday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 26, 1933 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Willie B. Rogers. On September 30, 1950, she married Grady H. Pitts, Church of Christ Minister, who preceded her in death January 20, 1994. Mrs. Pitts was a loving wife, mother and nanny to many. She was faithful member of Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Charles) Thornton of Columbia; son, Kevin Pitts of Culleoka; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Chitwood, Ethel Hall, Christine Swearingen; brothers, Marvin Temples, Edgar Temples, and James Temples. Active pallbearers will be Doug Sharp, Tommy Voss, Patrick Thornton, Mike Isabell, Walker Reischman, and Joey Norman. Honorary pallbearers include Elders, Deacons, and members of Culleoka Church of Christ, and her Cully friends.
