Billy Ray Davis, 75, retired employee of Wright & Lopez Construction, died Monday, November 20, 2006 at his residence on Foster Chapel Road in the Sawdust Community. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with John Henson officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Hickman County native was the son of the late Lon Shadden Davis and Ruth Baker Davis. He was married to Helen Head Matlock Davis who preceded him in death on December 8, 1996. He was a member of Arkland Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Michael Ray Davis of Sawdust Community; one daughter, Faye (Lee) Brown-Holder of Counce; two brothers, Jimmy Lon (Rachel) Davis of Summertown; Ronnie Lee (Wanda) Davis of Nashville; four sisters, Frances (Alfred) Stutts of Columbia; Mattie Church of Sawdust Community; Phylis Thompson of Mt. Pleasant; Betty Jean Slaughter of Columbia; five grandchildren, Daphanne Brown (Sammy) Tankersley, Lori Brown (Brad) Barcheers, Tabatha Brown (Jerry) Thompson, Michael Shannon (Carrie) Davis, Christopher Michael Davis; nine great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Davis, Clyde Davis, and Wayne Davis; one grandson, Ricky Brown; and one great grandson, Richie Pruitt. Pallbearers will be Terry Lindsey, Ricky Sims, Jerry Thompson, Brad Barcheers, Mike Davidson, Sr., and Mike Davidson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Davidson Fence, members of Arkland Church of Christ, Ralph Sims, and Steve Anderson.
