Billy Edward Fite, 78, retired employee of Union Carbide and longtime resident of the Williamsport Community, died Sunday, November 5, 2006, at Maury Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Higgenbotham and Brother James Moore officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Parkinson's Disease Association, 2300 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. He was an active member and supporter of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church of the Sawdust Community. Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Patricia Nelson Fite of Williamsport; one son, Edward Nelson (Nancy) Fite of Augusta, Georgia; two daughters, Kathleen (Chris) Brock of Williamsport; Janet (Walter) Ward of Martin; one brother, Bobby (Pat) Fite of Williamsport; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Maverick) Jaillet and Jolene Higdon, both of Decatur; Ryan Edward Fite of Tampa, Florida; Justin (Fiona) Mash and Phil (Brandie) Mash, both of Williamsport; Lindsey (Kevin) Cefali of Columbia; Whitney Ward, Amanda Ward, Zachary Ward, and Regan Ward, all of Martin; six great grandchildren, William Jaillet, Sarah Higdon, and Abigail Jaillet, all of Decatur; Justis Mash of Williamsport, Jayson Cefali and Aidan Cefali, both of Columbia; one brother-in-law, Aubrey Nelson of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ryan Fite, Justin Mash, Phil Mash, Zach Ward, William Jaillet, and Bobby Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be John William Pigg, Bill Harlan, Bobby Harris, Earl Moore, J. E. Johnson, Arthur Wentzel, Jimmy Grimmett, Don Morrow, Randall Scott, men of Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, and retirees of Union Carbide.
