Billy Raymond King, 72, retired employee of Sandrell Heating and Air and resident of Union Place, died Sunday, April 3, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Henry Anness and Brother James Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Cemetery in Williamson County. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born April 14, 1943 in Putnam County he was the son of the late Willie Raymond King and Mary Dimple Madewell King. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. King was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and loved his family and friends dearly. Survivors include his wife whom he married August 12, 1989, Rosie Lee Conner King of Columbia; children, William Hargrove, Jr. of Columbia, Teresa & Terry Woodard of Franklin, Stacy Bucy of Hermitage; grandchildren, Jesse (Charlotte) Woodard, Aleesia (Josh) Froschauer, Coty Bucy, Jordan Bucy; great grandchildren, Oliver Wayne Woodard, Archie J. Woodard, "Princess" Maelee Froschauer as he called her; brother-in-law, Howard Conner; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Beard and Dessie Griggs. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Hospice Compassus and the Alvin C. York Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro. Active pallbearers will be Jesse Woodard, Coty Bucy, Terry Woodard, Josh Froschauer, Ronnie Conner, and Gerald Conner.
