Billy Potts, 84, long-time resident of Maury County, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 surrounded by his family. A private family graveside service was held at Polk Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 3, 1935 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Emory Thomas Potts and the late Hazel Elizabeth Foster Potts. He was a member of the 1954 graduating class of Spring Hill High School. In 1990 he retired from Monsanto Chemical Company after 32 years. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Betty Lou Holcomb Potts of Columbia; daughters, Phyllis (Sam) Davis of Columbia; Janet (Johnny) Cothran of Culleoka; brother, Marshall Thomas “M.T.” (Freeda) Potts of Columbia; sisters, Charlotte Hickman, Rachel Tennyson; grandchildren, Blake (Brooke) Davis, Kelsi (T.C.) Norman; and four great grandchildren, Hailey Cothran, Stella Norman, Pippa Norman, and Parker Davis. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Vernon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter Lee and Pansy Holcomb; brother, Roy Potts; and sister, Margaret Jennette.
