BILLY RAY YOUNG Billy Ray Young, 62, former employee of the City of Columbia and resident of Seavy Hight Road, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the VA Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Danny Riggins and Danny Ray Jones officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Maury County native was the son of Emma Gertrude Demastus Young of Columbia and the late Wallace Covey Young. He served in the U. S. Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Virginia Faye Riggins Young of Columbia; one son, Billy Morris (Melissa Highfill) Young of Murfreesboro; one daughter, Belinda (Colin) Bradley of Columbia; two granddaughters, Leslie Renae Young Lewis and Angela Marie Bradley; one brother, W. C. Young of Columbia; three sisters, Kathy (Larry) Gilliam of Cornersville; Hester (Tim) Smith and Doris (Roger) King, both of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Ethel Young of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Isaac Young and Ewing Thomas Young. Pallbearers will be Lee Young, Kenny Gowan, Neal Hickman, Timmy Morton, Johnson Cozart, Justin Gilliam, Willie McElhiney, Steven Riggins and Jerry Wright.
