Miss Blanche Inman, 89, retired teacher, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living of Columbia. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (EST) at West View Cemetery in Sweetwater, Tennessee with Rev. Hugh Byrom officiating. The family and friends will gather at 1:00 p.m. (EST) at Kyker Funeral Home in Sweetwater. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Reared in the Ten Mile Community in Meigs County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Taylor Inman and Dora Edgmon Inman. She was a graduate of Meigs County High School in Decatur and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Miss Inman began teaching in 1938 in a small school called Euchee and taught at several other schools during her career. She retired from teaching in 1980. She moved to Columbia in 1981 and was active in the affairs of the Riverside United Methodist Church. She was a volunteer with the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Maury County Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a sister, Betty Inman (Joe) Lancaster of Columbia; three brothers, Ralph (Jackie) Inman of Kingston, John (Rosemary) Inman of Chattanooga, and Charles (Jeanette) Inman of Ten Mile; several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by a special friend, Ann Pogue, Dr. Thomas Dake, and friends and staff of Morning Pointe Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by a brother, R. T. Inman, Jr. and sister-in-law, Marie Skelton Inman.
