On February 14, 1952, she married John Vanleer "Jack" Johnson, Jr., who preceded her in death October 16, 2008. She was a graduate of Spring Hill High School where she was a member of the basketball team. She retired in 1998 following a thirty-plus year career at the Maury County Clerk Office, where she was very helpful in issuing marriage licenses-sometimes after hours. Having very beautiful penmanship, Mrs. Johnson was frequently requested to complete the license form. She also served as witness for many weddings. Besides spending time with her family, she was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, and enjoyed dancing, crafting, sewing, shopping, and reading. She held great pride in her appearance, always having her nails and hair styled. She was a fantastic cook, always had a good story to tell, and very devoted to visiting shut-ins and friends in the nursing home. For many years, Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church.
