Mr. Bobby Allen Hollis, Sr., 74, native of the Blue Creek Community in Giles County, died Saturday, March 12, 2005 at his residence on McCall Street in the Lynnville Community. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Lynnville United Methodist Church with Rev. Milton Stephens and Rev. Steve Van Hooser officiating. Burial will be in the Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday at the church from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to the Robert B. Jones High School Library, P. O. Box 66, Lynnville, 38472. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. He was born December 16, 1930 in Giles County the son of the late William Cecil Hollis and Ella Lell West Hollis. He was a graduate of Jones High School at Lynnville and Southern Junior High School in Louisville, Kentucky. At the age of 17, he entered the United States Navy and served on the USS Fargo CL106 and the USS William C. Lowe DD763. Additionally, he was stationed 4 years on the East Coast, in the Mediterrean Sea and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Lynnville United Methodist Church for many years.Mr. Hollis served as an Alderman for the town of Lynnville for 8 years. Active in civic and community affairs, he co-chaired the first Lynnville PTA Horse Show in 1968 and was Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 381, during which time his son attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was chosen as 2004 Mr. Lynnville at the 3rd Annual Blackberry Festival, served as an adult 4-H Club Volunteer, a member of the Lynnville Community Club and past member of the Lynnville American Legion Post #224. He drove the 500 Route of the Borden Milk Plant in Columbia for Paul H. Dugger, Sr. of Lynnville and later owned the route. This route was in the Wilkes-Dugger family for over 50 years. Later, he retired from Maramont-Gabriel of Pulaski with 25 years service.He was married April 11, 1952 to the former Nancy Jo Dugger of Lynnville.In addition to his wife of nearly 53 years, he is survived by a daughter, Teresa Ann Hollis (Lyles) Wells of Decatur, Alabama; two sons, Bobby Allen (Ann) Hollis, Jr. and Bill Dugger (Diane) Hollis of Lynnville; a sister, Margaret Hollis Henshall of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Joseph Allen Wells, Saralell Wells of Decatur, Alabama, Scott Dugger (Jamie) Hollis, Bobby Allen Hollis, III, William Wiseman (Cassie) Hollis, Paul Ross Hollis, Leslie Diane Hollis, Emily Laura Hollis, and John Braxton Hollis of Lynnville; two step-great-granddaughters, Lexi Jones and Hallie Marshall; one adopted great-grandson, Conner Arnett.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.His grandsons and Ronald Dugger and Donald Dugger will serve as pallbearers.
