View Funeral Webcast Bobby Ray Powell, 72, retired employee of Kroger and resident of Columbia, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A graveside will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery with Eddie Rogers officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the cemetery. Bobby’s request is that everyone wear casual attire during the services. Born February 3, 1948 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Lloyd Raymond Powell and the late Willie Ireland Jones Powell. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam with the 101st. Air Borne. Mr. Powell enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, whom he married November 25, 1970, Lydia Wiley Powell; brother, Kenneth Powell; sister, Peggy Green; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved cat, Mr. Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Burger King coffee drinkers.
