View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute Mr. Bobby Wayne White, Sr.,86, resident of Columbia, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Andrew Phillips and Chad Landman officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences maybe extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 25, 1936, in Maury County, he was the son of the late Clifton Willis White and the late Sally Madeline Davis White. He served in the United States Army from August 10, 1955 – August 8, 1958. In 1958, he worked for Columbia Daily Herald until 1986. From 1986 to 1994, he worked for General Electric in Columbia and from 1994-2001 in Decatur, Alabama. He enjoyed fishing, painting, and watercolors. Mr. White was a member of Graymere Church of Christ, where he participated in Benevolence work. Survivors include his wife, whom he married June 8, 1963, Johnnie Irene Hicks Jones White of Columbia; son, Bobby Wayne (Marjorie) White, Jr.; daughters, Amanda Jo Wherry, Deborah Sue Jones Emens, Cynthia Dianne Jones (Leon) Pinkard; grandchildren, Jessica Brooke (Paul) Sayer, Sarah Madeline Wherry, Elora Danielle White, Kristie Dianne Pinkard, Warrior Peyton Wherry, Jackson Hunter White, Jacob Wayne White, Terry Leon Pinkard, Jr., William Edgar “Eddie” Pinkard, Jonathan Edward Emens; great grandchildren, Austin Tyler Pinkard, Christian Pinkard, Emily Grace Pinkard, Archer Montgomery Sayer, William Pinkard; brother, Roger Dale (Kathy) White; brother-in-law, Hugh McHenry; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Thomas White and sister, Betty Ann McHenry. Active pallbearers will be Ron Sharp, Roger White, Casper Matthews, Mark White, Tim White, Jackson White, Jacob White, Peyton Wherry, and Jon Emens.
