Brenda Harris Tune

Brenda Joyce Harris Tune, 73, and resident of Columbia, died Friday, September 6, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center

A graveside service will be held Wednesday September 11, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements and condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. 

Born June 30, 1951 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William P. Harris and the late Flora Burdette Harris. Growing up her family lived in Manilla, Philippines, Ankara, Turkey as well as Florida, Georgia, and Alabama before settling down in Columbia when her father retired from the United States Air Force. Brenda was an administrative assistant for 35 years for the state of Tennessee, and was an administrative assistant to the last three commissioners of Finance and Administration. Moving back to Columbia in 2008 for retirement, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching Alabama football on Saturdays.

She is survived by her brother, Bill Harris; nephew, Buck Harris; great nephews Andrew Staggs, and Jacob Harris. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Kos” Harris.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living for their care of Brenda for the last three years.
