Bruce Clark Grissom Bruce Clark Grissom, 96, retired insurance representative and gentleman farmer, died Monday, October 4, 2004, at his residence on Pleasant Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eddie Rogers and Curtis Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the son of the late Edward Leonadas Grissom and Margaret Ella Batey Grissom. He was married to Velma Garner Grissom who preceded him in death in 1989. Mr. Grissom attended school at Mooresville High School and was employed by Borden Milk Company where he was instrumental in organizing the Union. He left the Borden Milk Company and went into the insurance business where he worked in Birmingham, Alabama and Tennessee until he retired. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include one sister, Virginia Grissom Haertel of Lewisburg; several nieces and nephews including Cathy Garner of Columbia and Donna Lynes-Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; special friends and caregivers, Billie Ridley and Sissy White; and longtime neighbor, Betty O'Connor of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Grooms, Clifford White, Jerry Rowland, Joe Culver, Jerry Oliver, and Larry Pigg. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of Highland Church of Christ and men of Cedar Hill Church of Christ.
