Buster Greer

November 24, 1918 — July 13, 2006

Mr. Buster Greer, 87, retired employee of Union Carbide and resident of Old Williamsport Pike, died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at Skyline Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Como, Texas, he was the son of the late Gus Thomas Greer and Dessa Irene Wilson Greer. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was first married to Rosella Parker Greer who died in 1979 and later married Marie Estes Greer who also preceded him in death on April 9, 2002. He was a member of the Nazarene Church. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Allen of Pleasantview; Patricia Rybolt of Deerfield Beach, Florida; Teresa Reynolds of Columbia; one son, Cecil Greer of Columbia; six grandchildren, Sheila (Bob) Terrell, Brock Reynolds, Jason Reynolds, all of Nashville; Coye Allen, Elizabeth Greer, Cecil Greer, Jr., all of Columbia; five great grandchildren, Justin Brickell, Alex Terrell, Maddie Terrell, all of Nashville; Cecil Ray Alexander Greer and Taliya Greer, both of Columbia; and several step grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
