Mr. Byron B. Cox, Jr., 75, resident of Country Club Lane, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Maury Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2008 at Brentwood Baptist Church on Concord Road. He was a graduate of Baylor University and earned an M.R.E. at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a retired insurance executive with Old Line Life (now A.I.G.). Mr. Cox was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church and had served as music director at Highland Park Baptist Church, West End Baptist Church and East Commerce Baptist Church in Lewisburg. He was Director of the Columbia Athenaeum for five years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Hyatt Cox of Columbia; son, Paul (Kim) Cox of Franklin; daughter, Karla (Dennis) Worley of Franklin; three grandchildren, Seth (Arley) Worley, Matt Worley, Ben Worley; and one great-grandchild, Elliott Worley.
