Mr. Clarence W. "C.W." Turner, 72, retired employee of Union Carbide Corporation and resident of Davis Avenue, died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Brother Billy Felker officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the son of the late Cleo Turner and Lucille Roberts Turner. An avid outdoorsman and horseman, Mr. Turner was an owner, trainer, and breeder of Tennessee Walking Horses for over fifty years. Anyone who knew C. W. any length of time, was aware of his life-long love of horses, especially the beautiful Tennessee Walkers. He enjoyed this hobby each and every day. He was an honest, steadfast, unassuming, kind and gentle man; a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was a man upon whom everyone could depend. Survivors include his wife, Bernadine Bratton Turner of Columbia; one son, Dennis (Betty) Turner of Spring Hill; two daughters, Claudia Kaye (Jerry) Corvin and Pam (Gary) Bucks, both of Columbia; two brothers, Jerry (Suzanne) Turner and George Edward (Joy) Turner, both of Columbia; one sister, Osie (Jimmy) Simbeck of Athens, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and his much-loved schnauzer and companion, Whitt. Pallbearers will be Darrell Wilkinson, Darrell Warren, Adam Mullinax, Kenneth Mullinax, Mark Turner, David Roberts, Tony Bratton, and George Nicholson. Honorary pallbearers include past and present employees of Union Carbide Corporation, Phil Meissner, Dr. James Kelley, Dr. Andy Sisk, Doug Mayberry, Tommy Yokley, Mike Floyd, Mike Greene, John W. Pigg, Charles Cook, Aubrey Davis, Jimmy Campbell, Willie Wyatt, Bobby Sands, David Murphy, Jim Cartwright, Bill Brunson, Jack Craig, J. P. Due, Jim Curry, Neal Wall, Calvin Cheek, Jimmy Walters, Dow Corvin, Paul Corvin, Mike Hill, Steve Hill, and Jimmy Simbeck.
