Mr. Calvin Gilbert Boswell, 78, retired employee of Publix Shirt Factory and resident of Horne Hollow Road in Culleoka, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Danny Buie officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Friday from 12 - 2p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lauderdale County, Alabama native was the son of the late H. M. Boswell and Rosa Buie Boswell. He served in the United States Army during World War II and attended the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Vera Beatrice Bowers Boswell of Culleoka; daughter, Angela (Jamie) Turnbo of Columbia; son, Dwight (Julie) Boswell of Culleoka; four sisters, Rachel Ketchum, Laverne Fulmer both of Columbia, Martha Thurman of Culleoka, Ina Carol (Jack) Black of Hampshire; one brother, John (Josie) Boswell of Lynnville; grandchildren, Adam Boswell, Ashley Boswell Wicks of Culleoka, Chelsea Turnbo and Colton Turnbo of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Boswell and Ernest Boswell and one sister, Lucy Brown. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
