Calvin Raymon "Ray" Locke

Calvin Raymon Locke, age 91, son of the late Calvin Raymon and Etheleen White Locke, husband of Faye Dodson Locke for 68 years passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017. In 1943 he graduated from Spring Hill High School and shortly thereafter joined the U.S. Army and served at Ft Knox, Ky. When he returned to Columbia after the Army he worked for Locke Plumbing and Heating , Doug White Florist and Ellis Motor Co. He then was employed by Union Carbide where he worked until his retirement on January 1, 1986. He was an active member of Graymere Church of Christ since 1959 and an avid sports fan.Survivors include his wife Faye Dodson Locke of Columbia and his son Dr. Joel Raymon Locke and daughter-in-law Frieda Greer Locke of Franklin, TN.; grandchildren Elizabeth Locke (Joseph) Etherton of Jacksonville, FL.; and Joel Raymon Locke, Jr. of Dallas TX.; great grandchildren William Walker Etherton and Monroe Greer Etherton.He was preceded in death by sisters Vivian Mckee and Loraine Vandiver, and a bother James Walter (J.W.) LockeVisitation at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home will be from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 10, 2017 with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with John Vaughan officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
