Mr. Campbell Pillow Ridley, Sr., 96, farmer and resident of Ridley Farm on the Mt. Pleasant Pike, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the W. P. He was born February 21, 1911 at Clifton Place in Maury County, the son of the late William Pillow Ridley and Eva Campbell James Ridley. He attended Old Columbia Institute, Columbia Military Academy, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Having farmed with his father and brother until their deaths, Mr. Ridley continued operating Ridley Farm until his death with his son, Campbell P. Ridley, Jr. In 1996, he and his son were honored by the Maury County Chamber of Commerce for continous agricultural production in a family operation for 100 years, known as a Century Farm. Mr. Ridley was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of Columbia Mil & Elevator Board, Rose Hill Cemetery Endowment Association Board, and served as President of the Tennessee Producers Livestock Association. His wife of 59 years, Evelyn Shapard Ridley, died March 17, 1995. Survivors include his daughter, Celia James Ridley of Memphis; his son and daughter-in-law, Campbell P. and Patty P. Ridley of Columbia; granddaughter, Anne Ridley (Witter) Tidmore of Santa Fe, New Mexico; two great-grandsons, Maximillian Ridley Tidmore and Quinnlin Campbell Tidmore of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Ann Ridley Jewell and a brother, William Pillow Ridley, Jr. Active pallbearers are Andrew Donelson Crichton, Charles Worthington Crichton, Andrew Donelson Crichton, Jr., Edwin Wilkerson Halliday, Edwin Wilkerson Halliday, Jr., J. B. Lamar, and William Pillow Ridley, Jr. Family and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.
