Carl Walker Baker, 83, retired from the maintenance department of Monsanto Company and resident of Sunnyside Drive, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Hueston Marshall and John Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The Hickman County native was the son of the late John Baker and Bertie Nichols Baker. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Berniece Mayberry Baker of Columbia; a son, Carlton D. Baker of Brentwood; grandchildren, David C. (Cori) Baker, Tracy Baker (Jason) Bell, and Ben Baker, all of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Preslie Baker, Reagan Baker, and Adam Brent Baker, all of Columbia; two sisters, Lulye Baker Dorton of Union City and Sarah Baker Nash of Lyles; a brother, Robert Baker of Troy; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Adam Kenneth Baker. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
