Carl Steven Jones

Carl Steven “Steve” Jones, 63, former owner of Village Pizza, died Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his residence on Wayne Street in Columbia. A Celebration of Life will be held as the family visits with friends Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 19, 1955 in Lewis County, he was the son of the late Clint Dennis Jones and the late Juanita Hinson Jones. Mr. Jones was a former employee of IB Tech and the Fast Stop Convenience Store. He was an avid NASCAR and U.T. football fan, who also enjoyed fishing and going to yard sales with his fiancée. He attended Riverside United Methodist Church. Survivors include his sister, Patricia (Mike) Middleton of Hohenwald; brother, Barney (Nell) Staggs of Hohenwald; fiancée, Susan Hanvy Rummage of Columbia and her children, Kendra Hanvy Woody and Josh Diaz; Susan’s grandchildren, Hunter Diaz, Landon Lavley, Carter Woody, and Liam Woody whom he loved as his own; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Woodward Jones; brother, Edward Hinson; and sister, Vivian Simmons.
