May Jewelers, Master Jeweler, and resident of Columbia, died Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Bill Watkins officiating and Andy Pogue as song leader. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born February 2, 1951 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Raymond Carl “R.C.” May and the late Margaret Wiley May. On May 20, 1972, he married Wanda Lee Monteith May who preceded him in death January 19, 2015. He attended Freed-Hardeman University for two years, where he met Wanda, and earned a Master’s degree in History from Harding University. Mr. May was a life-long Minister of the Gospel having preached at Berea Church of Christ for many years, and currently at Shipps Bend Church of Christ. Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth (Darron) Chapman; sons, David (Crystal) May, Michael (Wendy) May; grandchildren, Megan May, Logan May, Scarlett May, Lily Woody, Sophia Chapman, Jeremy Chapman; honorary grandchildren, Sabastian Nelson, Thomas Forshee, Bradley Nelson; brother, Al (Jane) May; two nieces; and several great nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Chris Chumley, Alan Chumley, Jason Wright, Marty Tyree, Richard Love, Doug Balthaser, Sabastian Nelson, and Thomas Forshee. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Brown, Jeff Johnston, Brad Johnston, Bradley Nelson and members of Berea Church of Christ and Shipps Bend Church of Christ.
