View Funeral Webcast Carol Johnson Bybee, 83, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at NHC Columbia. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at Hardison Cemetery on Rock Springs Road with Reverend Tony Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born December 18, 1939 in Marshall County, she was the daughter of the late Granville Johnson and the late Nona Ring Johnson. Mrs. Bybee had worked for Walmart, Helms, and Big Lots. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, James L. Bybee of Columbia; daughter, Sharon Nelms Patterson of St. Louis, Missouri; son, John L. Nelms of St. Louis, Missouri; brother, Arnold (Frances) Johnson of California City, California; granddaughter, Angelique Pecaroni of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandson, Jaxton Pecaroni of St. Louis, Missouri; stepchildren, Terrance Bybee, James Bybee, Jr., Shari Bybee Bowers; step grandchildren, Mackenzie Bybee, Campbell Bybee, John Bowers, and Bryan Bowers; and dear friends, Sue and Jimmy Campbell, and Reva Hinderliter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Fred A. Johnson; and sister, Mary Johnson Black.
