Caroline Rose Santangelo Bastone, age 83, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ray Scibold officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born July 31, 1933 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Salvadore Santangelo and the late Susan Guinta Assunta Santangelo. On June 6, 1957, she married Anthony Dan Bastone who preceded her in death August 27, 2002. Nana, as she was affectionately called, was gentle and kind and knew no stranger. All who came into her life loved her. Her affectious smile and compassion and love for others brought joy to those around her. Her greatest blessings were her family. Mrs. Bastone was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.She is survived by her son, Tony Bastone and two daughters, Ginamarie (Tony) Wolfe and Laureen (Dave) Bingham. She was the proud grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, Caroline (Parker) Brown, Anthony Wolfe, Catherine Wolfe, Anna Grace Wolfe, Abigail Wolfe, and Olivia Wolfe, Rosemarie Bingham, Nadia Bingham, and David Bingham, and Kazlyn Bastone, Zoe Bastone, and Chloe Bastone. In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosanne Bastone on August 22, 2010. Active pallbearers will be Parker Brown, Mike Prince, Noah Burchell, Drew Thornton, Frank Lundie, and Monty Lewis. Honorary pallbearers include past and present employees of McDonald's, Dr. Emilio Rodriguez, Dr. Cummins Couch, Dr. Jim Marshall, Dr. Amit Choksi, Dr. Cason Shirley, and Dr. Jack Herbiq.
