Carolyn Arthur Bloss

Carolyn Arthur Bloss, 71, homemaker and resident of Hampshire Pike, died Monday, June 22, 2009 at Williamson Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Gene Shelton and Rev. John Rushing officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 109 East 17th Street, Columbia 38401 or Northside Baptist Church, 127 Theta Pike, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Roy Nathan Arthur and Estelle Simmons Arthur. She was a member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and also frequently attended Northside Baptist Church. Mrs. Bloss was an avid gardener. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jimmy Bloss of Columbia; daughters, Kay (Dexter) Shelton of Huntsville and Jamie Bloss of Columbia; son, James Blaine Bloss of Columbia; grandchildren, Rebecca Shelton (Taylor Loy), Mark Shelton, Roger Shelton, Heather Bloss, Candace Bloss, and Beth (Mike) Jones; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie Boshers of Columbia and Anne Arthur of Pulaski; half-sisters, Shonnie (Chris) Bauer, Tammy Scott, and Crystal Field of Ohio and Ginger (Doug) Stivers of Florida; half-brothers, Terry Arthur of Virginia, Danny Arthur of Kentucky, Rodney Arthur of Pulaski; step-sisters, Tula Mae Bradley of Tullahoma, Sara (Ralph) Beck of Indiana, and Lachon Crowder of Fayetteville; step-brothers, Paul Simmons and Denton Simmons of Pulaski; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, James W. Arthur and Larry Arthur. Honorary pallbearers include Dexter Shelton, Troy Bowers, Bobby Potts, Jackie Potts, Third Tuesday Dinner Friends, Roger Shelton, Mark Shelton, Dr. Cary Pulliam, and Dr. Thomas Dake.
