Carolyn McCollum Nance, 76, homemaker, died Thursday, February 21, 2019 at her residence in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Randy Kersey officiating. Private burial will be held in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Born July 19, 1942 in Maury County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie Edward McCollum and the late Annie Lee Calvert McCollum. On July 25, 1959, she married Joseph Clifford “Joe” Nance who preceded her in death May 6, 2017. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Nance was very involved in her family’s business, Nance Body Shop. She and her husband enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, and she was a devoted animal lover and an avid Alabama football fan. Mrs. Nance was a member of Halls Chapel Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughter, Starlyn (Lee) Bailey of Columbia; son, Scotty (Dawn) Nance of Mt. Pleasant; sister and devoted brother-in-law, Lucy and Jerry Church of Columbia; grandchildren, Kimmie (Matt) Hayes, Devan Nance both of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren, Waylon Hayes, River Hayes both of Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Royce J. Nance of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, Chance Church, Stan (Dee) McNatt, Tim (Tammy) McNatt, Mike Nance; nieces, Laurie (Randall) Pruitt, Connie (Mike) Mills, Melissa (Johnny) Davidson; and special friends, Jimmy Mullins, Robert Musgrove; and chihuahua, Taco. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Okalene McCollum, Bea McCollum, Shirley McNatt; and brother, Morris McCollum. Pallbearers will be Chance Church, Stan McNatt, Josh McNatt, Matt Hayes, Jimmy Mullins, Tim McNatt, and Randall Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers include Sally Barr, Dr. Carey Pulliam, Dr. Amit Choksi, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Richard Taylor, Brittney Hickman, Robert Musgrove, and Judy and Tony Foster.
