Carolyn Edwards Stacy, 94, lifelong resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Charlie Norman officiating. Entombment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Jackson Heights church of Christ 1200 Nashville Hwy, Columbia, TN 38401. Carolyn was born on August 12, 1929 in Maury County to the late Henry C. Edwards and the late Lora Mae Wright Edwards. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1947. For many years she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Tom Young, Dr. Harry Helm, Dr. George Fiedler, Dr. Wallace Wilkes, Dr. Dan Gray, and Dr. Tim Gordon. Carolyn loved crocheting, taking care of her house plants, watching her hummingbirds, traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains, and the gospel group Kingdom Heirs at Dollywood. She was a Super Star Volunteer with Maury Regional Medical Center and a devoted member of Jackson Heights church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Hugh Glenn Stacy on August 31, 2009.
Survivors include her son, Wayne (Trina) Stacy of Columbia; two daughters, Dianne Stacy of McMinnville and Lydia (Damian) Montoya of Madison, Alabama; eleven grandchildren, Loryn Hillis, Peter Hillis, Katherine Townsend, Lindsay Henson, Megan (Rick) Chatman, Lance Stacy, Emily Montoya, Olivia Montoya, Meagan (Brad) Miller, Morgan Mitchell, and McKenzie Mitchell; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Allen and Lydia Edwards; brother, Ray (Beverly) Edwards; a very special and devoted friend, John Anderson of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lance Stacy, Caden Chatman, Randy Stanfill, Larry Yeager, Lester Crane, Tony Edwards, Michael Ray King, and Austin Bratton. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Gibbs, Hal Holcomb, Ray Holcomb, Peter Hillis and the Elders and Deacons of Jackson Heights church of Christ.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Life Care of Columbia for their love and care.
