Video Memories of Carolyn Dooley ToungettMrs. Carolyn Dooley Toungett, 69, resident of Ragsdale Road in the Santa Fe Community, died Saturday, February 5, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor David Usry officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James Lester Dooley and Aletha Godwin Dooley. She was a 1953 graduate of Columbia Central High School and a member of the Mt. Wesley Church of the Nazarene. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a gifted seamstress who sewed tirelessly for her children. She enjoyed crochet and made many beautiful blankets which still warm her family. Mrs. Toungett had a beautiful voice and was often heard singing the songs of her faith both at church and in her kitchen. She rocked her grandchildren and put them to sleep by singing louder than they could cry. She taught her family many spiritual truths as she sang the old hymns. Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Domont Paul Toungett of Santa Fe; a son, Jim Toungett of Santa Fe; three daughters, Pat (Dwight) Fautt, Aletha Toungett and Lori Johnson, all of Columbia; two brothers, Ronnie (B.J.) Dooley of Franklin and Kenny (Cindy) Dooley of Summertown; a sister, Norma (Charlie) Mayse of Columbia; six grandchildren, Beth (Donald) Brumit of Santa Fe, Brandon (Allison) Harris of Columbia, Jessica Toungett serving in the U. S. Navy, Jamie King of Columbia, Geoffrey Johnson of Columbia and Leslie Fautt of Nashville; two great-grandchildren, Emma Brumit and Abby Brumit of Santa Fe. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, Jerry Dooley. Pallbearers are Jeff Ladyman, Elton Sisk, J. B. West, Larry Fox, Tim Scott, Enoch George and Bryan George.
