Cecil Blair Pogue, 88, lifelong resident of Hampshire Pike, died Saturday April 6, 2019 at his residence in Hampshire, TN. Funeral Services for Mr. Pogue will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home with Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Worley Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:00- 8:00 P.M. and Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ building fund, 4418 Stephenson Schoolhouse Road, Hampshire, TN 38461. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born October 29, 1930 in Hampshire, TN, he was the son of the late George Pogue and late Helen Grimmett Pogue. Mr. Pogue served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 20, 1956, he married his wife of 62 years, Sandra Peery Pogue. He retired from Union Carbide after 38 years as a Millwright. Mr. Pogue was a member of American Legion Post 19 and the Hampshire Men’s Club. He loved woodworking alongside his son, making birdhouses, cedar chests, tables, and, many other small objects. Mr. Pogue enjoyed farming and watching auto racing. His proudest accomplishment was his family and most of all his two granddaughters. Mr. Pogue was a member of the Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Peery Pogue of Hampshire; son, Al (Tina) Pogue of Nashville; granddaughters, Rachael Pogue of Nashville, Emily Blair Pogue of Lexington, KY; sisters Alice Campbell of Spring Hill, Sue (Don) Garner of Hampshire. Active pallbearers will include Pat Campbell, Keith Runions, Robert Pogue, Randy Bates, Tim Cotham, and Benny Morton. Honorary pallbearers will include Edward Runions, Clyde Skelley, members of the Hampshire Men’s Club, and men of the Cathey’s Creek Church of Christ.
