Mrs. Cecil Jane Bishop Cecil, 90, homemaker and resident of Washington Street in Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at Maury Regional Hospital. A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Zion Churchyard with Rev. Eugene Barrett and Houston Parks officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 202 South Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, TN 38474. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lawrence County native was the daughter of the late Henry Wilson Bishop and Rosie Calvert Bishop. She was married to Paul S. Cecil who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Summertown High School. Mrs. Bishop was an active member of Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary, James K. Polk Association, and had served on the Board of Directors of First Farmers and Merchants Bank. Survivors include six nieces, four nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Bishop, Fred Bishop, Howard Bishop, and two sisters, Ava Sims and Alma McCrory. Honorary pallbearers will be all Directors of First Farmers & Merchants Bank.
