Mr. Cecil Edward Pitts, 55, outdoor salesman for Wurth, Inc. died Monday, July 14, 2003 at his residence on General Roberts Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Hoppus officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of Mary Elizabeth Kincaid Pitts of Columbia and the late Edward Lovell Pitts. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was active with Central Band Boosters. He was a retired engineer with CSX. He served in the United States Army and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Kaye Blackburn Pitts of Columbia; daughter, Brooke Pitts of Columbia; son, Ben (Jerusha) Pitts of Columbia; sister, Ann Pitts of Alabama; brothers, Kenneth (Theresa) Pitts, Ronnie (Tammie) Pitts both of Columbia; mother-in-law, Betty Dodson Blackburn of Columbia; brother-in-law Tommy (Bonnie) Blackburn of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Frank Herby, Tommy Blackburn, Michael Dodson, Bobby Lee Harris, Eddie Hickman and David Henson.
