Mr. Charles Autry Johnson, 85, long time resident of Spring Hill, died Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Craig Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The family suggests memorials be made to American Kidney Foundation 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300 Rockville, MD 20852. Born on August 11, 1936 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Willard M. Johnson and the late Lacey Casteel Johnson Boston. On March 21, 1981 he married Ellen Fitzgerald Johnson and they just recently celebrated 41 years of marriage. Mr. Johnson was a retired brick layer and worked for Lovell’s Masonry for many years. He was a 50 year member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworker’s Union Local 5 – TN. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Spring Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Teresa (Ed) Straight and Neal Johnson both of Columbia; step-children, Brenda Lancaster of Spring Hill, Pam (John) Dodd of Canton, Georgia and Debbie (David “Beefy”) Baxter of Spring Hill; step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Kip) Cason, Matthew Dodd and Katie (Jeff) Barton; step-great grandchildren, Brooks Barton, Archie Barton and Allie Cason; half-sisters, Beverly Green and Darlene Fisher; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, J.M. Johnson, Dewey Johnson, Cleophus Johnson, Bobby Gene Johnson and Billy Johnson; and half-brother, Willard Johnson, Jr. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal & Nancy Osborne, Brady Knight, Annette Hart, and Dave & Pam Alund. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care.
