Charles Ned Dorman, 78, retired car dealer and cattleman, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at his residence on Crestland Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at West End Baptist Church with Rev. W. D. Thomason and Dr. Carl Duck officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. His father died two months prior to his birth, and as a consequence he and his brother spent eight years at Epworth Orphange in Columbia, South Carolina. He served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Dorman was a member, Deacon and former Chairman of Deacons of West End Baptist Church. He first worked with Southern Railway in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was a salesman for Beamon Dodge-Plymouth then Beamon Pontiac and later was truck manager for Coggin Chevrolet in Nashville. He was General Manager for Eveready Motors in Waverly. Mr. Dorman came to Columbia with his familyin 1968 for him to serve as General Manager of Lucas Chevrolet-Cadillac. He enjoyed working with polled Hereford cattle and was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ann Elliott Dorman of Columbia; two daughters, Rita (Ronnie) Pigg of Cornersville and Robin (Sam) Keto of Columbia; two sons, Steve Dorman of Littleton, Colorado and Dale (Babs) Dorman of Mt. Juliet; a sister, Doris D. Corley of Old Hickory; a brother, Bob (Barbara) Dorman of Welford, South, Carolina; three grandchildren, Jason Stanley, Jake Pigg, and Kane Pigg; a great-granchild, Bradley Stanley; step-grandchildren, Caleb Smith, Cody Smith, Carlee Smith, Brian Keto, Tatiana Keto, and Jarred Keto; two nieces and two nephews. Pallbearers are his grandson, Jason Stanley and nephews, Mark Elliott, Randy Culbreth, Dave Corley, Mike Dorman, Jerry Fogg, Tracy Weaver, Keith Culbreth, and Kevin Culbreth. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Berean Sunday School Class at West End Baptist Church.
