Mr. Charles Adair Hendrickson, 92, retired from Stauffer Chemical Company, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at NHC Columbia.Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Frank Smith and Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jeff Jacob officiating at graveside services. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Academy, 1101 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401; Hope Clinic, 105 North James Campbell Boulevard, Columbia 38401; First United Methodist Church Prayer Garden or Building Fund, 222 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Rutherford County native was the son of the late Jonathon Greenbury Hendrickson and Sarah Green Hendrickson. He was educated at Bellvue High School in Davidson County and I.C.C. Machine Design Engineering. Mr. Hendrickson retired after 42 years with Stauffer Chemical Company during which he served as production supervisor in Butte, Montana; plant manager in Tarpon Springs, Florida and Mt. Pleasant; and construction supervisor of plants in Italy and Mexico.He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class. Mr. Hendrickson was a member of the Columbia Lions Club and Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge. His numerous civic activities while a resident of Tarpon Spirngs, Florida included serving as President of the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Hellen Ellis Hospital Board of Directors. He was married November 27, 1939 to the former Eudora Vandiver. Mrs. Hendrickson died November 9, 1998. Survivors include sons, Dr. C. Vance (Pam) Hendrickson of Mt. Pleasant and John Eric (Quinetta) Hendrickson of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Brent (Meghan) Hendrickson, Elizabeth (Kevin) Miller, Kyle Hendrickson, and Kyndall Hendrickson; great-grandchildren, Isabella Miller and Mary Kate Miller. He was preceded in death by sisters, Willie Boyce, Frances Powell, Helen Smith, and Mary Lou Hoover; and brothers, Edward Hendrickson and A. J. Hendrickson. Active pallbearers are Brent Hendrickson, Elizabeth Miller, Kyle Hendrickson, Kyndall Hendrickson, Meghan Hendrickson, Kevin Miller, Tim Akin, George Powell, Charles Powell, Larry Taylor, Jim Carrigan, and Janine Stearns. Honorary pallbearers include Christopher Taylor, Ross McGee, Grant Hudson, Jimmy Fann, Tom Colvert, David Lovell, Jake Ray, Joe Waddle, David Wise, Joe Webb, Kurt Stearns, Steve Stearns, Waymon Hickman, Rick Knellinger, Butch Smith, Tim Litchford, Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. John Simmons, Staff of NHC Columbia, Staff of Poplar Estates, past employees of Stauffer Chemical Company, Ayres-Whitney Sunday School Class and members of the Mt. Pleasant Masonic Lodge.
