View Funeral Webcast Mr. Charles J. Brown, age 95, and a resident of Columbia, TN since 1964, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home. A funeral will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home with Reverend James C. Norton officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by American Legion Post 19. Born on April 12, 1924 in Tulsa, OK, he was a graduate of Tulsa Central High School, a graduate of the College of Mortuary Science, was a designated Paul Harris Fellow, was a member of American Legion Post 19, was a surgical tech in the 37th Field Hospital unit during WWII, and attended Riverside United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Frances Stanfill Brown. He is survived by sons Charlie (Janice) Bean of Broken Arrow, OK, and Dennis (Liz) Satterfield of Columbia, TN and daughter Gilda (Bobby Joe) Rhodes of Columbia, TN; grandchildren Jana Bean, Clay (Minea) Satterfield, Jenny (Scotty) Prince, Bo (Tirzah) Rhodes, and Andrea Rhodes; great grandchildren Jackson, Robert, and Cora Rhodes; and several siblings, nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers; Friends from Riverside United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 19 and the McDonald’s Lunch gang.
