View Funeral Webcast Charles M. Rash, 86, retired Administrator of Columbia Central High School and longtime resident of Azalea Drive, died Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Maury Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.Born November 11, 1931 in Gilmer, Texas, he was the son of the late Milton L. Rash and the late Gladys Smith Rash. He served as a flight engineer in the U. S. Army Air Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Rash was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and George Peabody College of Vanderbilt where he earned his Master's Degree plus 45 credits. Upon relocating to Columbia, Tennessee, he taught Industrial Arts and Algebra, served as Guidance Counselor for several years, and retired as Administrator from Columbia Central High School in 1992. He enjoyed fishing and metal detecting. Survivors include his wife whom he married October 10, 1952, Betty Hume Rash of Columbia; sons, Martin Scott (Cammie) Rash of Nashville, David Leonard (Lynda) Rash and Robin Steven (Tammy Renee) Rash, both of Columbia; sister, Mary Nell (Onie) Holt of Dallas, Texas; sister-in-law, Emma Lou Hume of Columbia; brother-in-law, Arthur S. (Barbara S.) Hume of Mississippi; grandchildren, Emily Rash (Cory) Burnham, Charles David (Caroline) Rash, Christopher Martin Rash, Peyton Lindsey Rash, Andrea Elise Rash; and great grandchild, Kenna Scot Rash.Active pallbearers will be Charlie Rash, Chris Rash, Cory Burnham, Danny Grooms, Clifford Kelley, and Glen Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will include the Retired Teachers Association, Sanford Potts, and Don Howell.
