View Funeral WebcastCharles Douglas "Doug" Mayberry, 85, retired employee of Barr Motor Company and resident of Davis Avenue, died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at NHC Lewisburg. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Harry Pillow Mayberry and Effie Mai Hardison Mayberry. On March 11, 1956, he married Betty Louise Staggs Mayberry who preceded him in death August 16, 1993. He served in the United Marine Corps during the Korean War. For more than 47 years he sold general motor parts and worked for Griggs Chevrolet and Parks Motor Sales. Mr. Mayberry was a sharp shooter and scored 201 out of 250. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Tony) Oliver, Mary Ann (Timmy) Owens, and Faye (Timmy) Oliver all of Columbia; son, Charles (Lori) Mayberry of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Carrie Mayberry, Katie Mayberry (Fernando) Esparza, Candy Chapman, Taneesa (Ross) Morton, Josh (Amanda) Oliver, Dustin (Aaron) Owens, Christopher (Sarah) Mayberry, and Morgan Oliver; and ten great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Mayberry; and granddaughter, Jessica Mayberry. Active pallbearers will be Walter Jewell, Jr., Josh Oliver, Dustin Owens, Christopher Mayberry, Timmy Owens, and Tony Oliver. Honorary pallbearers include Ross Morton, David Francis, Bill Slonecker, James Potts, Terry Crumley, Dennis Turner, and Brent Staggs.
