Charles Norman Sr

CHARLES NORMAN, SR. Charles Robert Norman, Sr., 71, retired employee of BellSouth, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at his residence on Crestland Drive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Charles Norman, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the son of the late William Hugh Norman and Sally Graham Norman. He was a 1950 graduate of Hay Long High School. He was stationed in Germany with the U. S. Army, then transferred to Ft Lauderdale, Florida with the telephone company. He had made his home back in Columbia since 1984 and was a member of the Good News Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Mamie Horne Norman of Columbia; two daughters, Vickie Edge of Columbia; Velvet (Kenny) Hopwood of Pulaski; one son, Charles R. (Sharon) Norman, Jr. of Columbia; four sisters, Joann (Jamie) Brown of Memphis, Leb Wall, Anna (Rick) Daniels, and Linda (Max)Westmoreland, all of Columbia; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenny Hopwood, Chad Hopwood, Danial Norman, David Norman, Dustin Norman, Drew Norman, David Lovett, and Jerrell Lovett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Columbia Fire Department Honor Guard and members of the Columbia Fire Department.
