Charles W Brown

Charles William "Charlie" Brown, 59, former employee of Astor Hotel on Canal Street and resident of Jefferson, Louisiana, died December 5, 2008 in New Orleans, Louisiana. A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Jones Cemetery with Deacon Price Keller officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The Maury County native was the son of Louise Parson Beason of Jefferson, Louisiana and the late Marion Ralph "Sonk" Brown. He served in the U. S. Army and was formerly employed in the maintenance department of Columbia State Community College. He attended the University of New Orleans, Delgado University, and Nursing School at Charity Hospital. Mr. Brown was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Peggy Ann (Raymond W. Sr.) Sheehan of Jefferson, Louisiana; two brothers, Bernard Brown of Columbia; Richard Allen Brown of Nashville; half-brother, Troy Brown of Columbia; sisters-in-law, Sandra Bradley Brown and Faylene Brown, both of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Marion Brown and Barry Brown and stepmother, Margie Brown.
