View Funeral Webcast View Video Tribute Charles William Troope, 70, retired employee of Union Carbide, died Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his residence in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jerrick Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Middle Tennessee Pregnancy Center, 704 Dunnington Street, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born July 13, 1950 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Paul Edward Troope and the late Vivian Mae Harris Troope. He served in the National Guard. For 25 years, he was a sports writer for The Columbia Daily Herald and for 10 years he worked for Maury County School System. He was a baseball coach for The American Little League, American Legion Post 19, and The Babe Ruth teams. Mr. Troope was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, whom he married March 1972, Vicky Lynn Grubbs Troope of Columbia; son, Jason (Danielle) Troope of Connersville, Indiana; daughters, Stephanie (Cliff) Stanfill of Columbia; Cheryl Kaye (Ned) Rich of Columbia; grandchildren, Tyler Stanfill, Jake Stanfill, Noah Jones, Emma Jones, Abby Jones, Easton Troope, Madison Jordon; sister, Sondra Kay King of Columbia; nephew, Chris Woods; and niece, Shelby Steele; a great nephew, Blake Steele. Active pallbearers will be Murry Ring, David Murphy, Ricky Haskins, Jim Smith, Jimmy Huckaby, and Eddie Hickman. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Borhman, Jimmy Fann, Steve Johnson, Eddie Ables, David Ring, Wayne Roberts, Deacons of Northside Baptist Church, the maintenance crew Maury County Schools, the ball players that he coached, and retired employees of Union Carbide.
