Mr. Charlie Parker "C.P." West, 83, retired barber, farmer, antiques dealer, and resident of Hatcher Lane, died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Maury Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Jerry Elder and Jeremy Butt officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West 7th Street Church of Christ, 405 West 7th Street, Columbia, 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent towww.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late I. L. West, Sr. and Grace Walker Jacobs West. He served in the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II and was a member of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. West was a long-time member of the West 7th Street Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, May Dugger West, in 1979; a daughter, Carol West White, in 1983; a step-grandson, Daryl Black; two sisters, Helen Higgenbotham and Billie Anne West; two brothers, J. B. West and Joe "Dee" West. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Elizabeth Kincaid West of Columbia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne West & Jerry Turner, Charlene West and Roy Paul of Ashland City and Jennie Grace West and Ricky Jewell of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law, David V. and Cindy West of Columbia; two step-daughters, Deanie K. Black and Edra K. (Charles) Clymore of Columbia; a step-son, Joseph David "J.D." Kincaid of Columbia; two sisters, Betty Jean (Neal) Blocker of Columbia and Sarah Grace Carrigan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one brother; I. L. West, Jr. of Columbia; ten grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Michael Paul, Mark Turner, Matt West, Adam West, Chance White and Smith Jewell. Honorary pallbearers are Elder and Deacons of West 7th Street Church of Christ, Dr. John Simmons, Dr. Gaylon Harris, Mr. Moatz Toban, Dr. Michael Zolkiewicz, and staff of Life Care Center.
