Charlotte Nicholson Frey

Charlotte Nicholson Frey, 61, employee of Vanderbilt Medical Center and resident of Brentwood, died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Spellings officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late William Thomas "Tommy" Nicholson and the late Lucile Elaine Smith Nicholson. On May 27, 1977, she married William Martin "Bill" Frey, Sr., who preceded her in death October 6, 2008. She was a 1973 graduate of Overton High School in Nashville and earned her B.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University in 1977. She was employed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center for twenty-eight years. She served as Assistant Director of Finance for twenty-six years and for the past two years, she was Finance Officer for Nursing Services. Prior to employment at Vanderbilt, she had been an accountant at Service Merchandise in Nashville and Bridgestone in LaVergne. Some of her favorite pastimes included cross stitching and reading. She was also an avid sports enthusiast. She loved her two dogs, Honey and Boots. She was a former member of American Accounting Association and a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include her sisters, Patricia Nicholson McClanahan and Lavinia Nicholson Gossett, both of Mt. Pleasant; Cynthia Nicholson (Larry) Jarnigan of Brentwood; Christy Nicholson (Scott) Badger of Nashville; step children, Patricia (Danny) Arnold of Shelbyville; William Martin Frey, Jr.; Melissa Barnes of Murfreesboro; nieces and nephews, William M. "Bill" (Shelley) McClanahan, Paul Thomas "Tommy" (April) Gossett, Jr., Alicia Elaine McClanahan, Lucy Ann Gossett, Michael Brandon (Lissa) Jarnigan, Nicholas Grant (Samantha) Jarnigan; several great nieces and great nephews; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; aunt, Dorothy N. Mabry; and uncles, James C. Nicholson and Wray E. (Jeanette) Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Tena Dodson Nicholson; and brother-in-law, Paul Thomas Gossett, Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McClanahan, Tommy Gossett, Brandon Jarnigan, Grant Jarnigan, Will Gossett, Luke Gossett, and Mike Barnes.
