Charlotte Strong Sharpe

Mrs. Charlotte Ann Strong Sharpe, 78, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at NHC Hillview. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Churchyard with Rev. Tom Wilson and Rev. Jess Reeves officiating. The family will visit with friends at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the graveside. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to West End Baptist Church, 900 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401 or St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 311 West 7th Street, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Brookhaven, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late James Douglas Strong and Lois May Strong. She was married to Murray Sharpe who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sharpe was a graduate of Central High School in Memphis and Memphis State University. She worked part-time as librarian at Maury County Public Library and was very active in the art community with shows held in Columbia and Memphis. She was a member of the Maury County Arts Guild and West End Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Survivors include a son, Steve (Virginia) Sharpe of Columbia; adaughter, Lois Ann Sharpe of Cordova, Tennessee; and two grandchildren, Carson Sharpe and Ella Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers include Carson Sharpe, Gilbert Orr, Mac Orr, Virgil Moore, Cecil Johns, Roy Hamilton, Broadus Sharpe, Earl Rhodes, Dr. Jim Baker, Dr. Cummins Couch, Edward Moore, and the staff of NHC Hillview.
