In his 95 years, Chesley lived a full and rich life as a successful entrepreneur, devoted man of God, and loving family man. Born August 11, 1911, Chesley learned the meaning of work through his experiences during the Great Depression, a trait he would keep his entire life. During his career with the postal service and later as the owner of a service station, Chesley found success in everything he tried. Throughout his life, Chesley served God any way he could through his work with the Riverside Church of Christ (now Northview). As a respected deacon, he would do anything asked of him with a smile. While in good health, he would often be the first person to arrive at church and the last to leave. On May 29, 1943, Chesley found the greatest fulfillment of his life when he married Carrie Coffman. For the next sixty-three years, she was his reason for getting up every morning. His love for her was reaching far beyond what words could ever express. Together they had three children, Chestine, Larry, and Vicki, as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Chesley was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. His gentle voice and wise words commanded attention. In his own words, "I treat everybody right, because that's how I want to be treated." Simply put, Chesley Parrish was a good man, who will be greatly missed.Funeral services for Chesley Parrish will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols.
