Video memories of Mrs. Christine Petty Mrs. Christine Gibson Petty, 90, long-time former resident of West 15th Street, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Columbia Care and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11a.m. Wednesday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Curtis Dowdy and Jerry Elder officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late Emmett M. Gibson and Nina Sands Gibson. On December 22, 1934 she married Fred Johnson Petty who preceded her in death November 17, 2002. In 1930 she became a charter member of the South Columbia Church of Christ which later became Highland Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gayle P. Owens of Columbia; a son, Larry Gibson (Lisa) Petty of Columbia; four grandchildren, Tara (Joshua) Fralix, Khristina (Scotty) James, Phillip (Michelle) Petty all of Columbia and Andrea S. Owens of Nashville; one step-grandchild, Ryan Hines of Columbia; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Allene McCord of Columbia; two brothers, Joe (Freda) Gibson and Leroy (Virginia) Gibson both of Columbia; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Gibson and Frances Petty both of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Doug M. Owens; a sister, Mrs. Joe (Bonnie) Hickman and two brothers, L.E. (Hoot) Gibson and William Gibson. Pallbearers will be Phillip Petty, Joshua Fralix, Scotty James, Ryan Hines, Paul Gibson, Billy Ray Campbell, B.I. Naddy and Enoch George. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Gibson, Neal Gibson, Alan Gibson, Tom H. Brown, Clay Woody, Bobby Jacoby, William A. Sands, Dr. William A. Robinson, Dr. Gibran Naddy, caregiver Tami Parrish, the staff of Columbia Care and Rehab and elders of Highland Church of Christ.
