Mrs. Christine Rieves Cavender Woods, 87, former resident of Columbia, died Friday, September 28, 2007. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston with Rev. Marc Sherrod officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Kyker Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 203 South Kentucky Street, Kingston, Tennessee 37763. The family will visit with friends Monday, October 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols followed by graveside services at Rose Hill Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. She was the previous owner-operator of Tropic Trailer Sales and Midtown L.P. Gas Company. Mrs. Rieves was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Elkettes, and Eagles Club. She was preceded in death by his first husband, Staff Sgt. Ernest Cavender and second husband, J. T. Woods, Sr.; sisters, Irene Brown, Bonnie Louise Dillehay, Annie Rieves, Katherine Eugenia Woody, Grace Elizabeth White, Mayme Lee Chappell, Nannie Mai Austin; and brothers, William B. Rieves, Thomas Augustus Rieves, and Douglas Rieves. Survivors include five daughters, Patricia (Gary Robert) Steimer of Knoxville, Brenda (Robert) Thompson of Nashville, Charlene (Alex) Buhler of Lebanon, Kitty Copeland of Midtown, Bina (Leonard) Kirby of Midtown; two sons, Horace Ray Cavender of Loudon and J. T. Woods, Jr. of Kingston; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Cecil Duncan of Columbia; grandchildren, Kimberly Cavender, Christine Anguiano, Deborah Steimer, Christopher B. Steimer, Camryn K. Thompson, Corey Buhler, Ty Buhler, Heather Copeland, Thomas Copeland, Veronica Poland, Eddie Kirby; great-grandchildren, Halleigh McKenzie Woods, Hannah Madison Woods, Aleigha Buhler, Breanna Buhler, Callie Buhler, Lucas Edward Poland, Cloa Alise Copeland; several nieces and nephews.
