View Funeral WebcastClaire Weigel "Tinkie" Hudson, 81, retired from Maury County Public Library which she served as head librarian for over 30 years, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was a graduate of Messick High School and attended Bethel College in McKenzie. While a student at Bethel she met her future husband, Hallie Hudson. They were married September 16, 1946 and came to Columbia to make their home when Mr. Hudson was named personnel director for Monsanto Company. He died June 9, 1997. Mrs. Hudson was a member and former Deacon at First Presbyterian Church, was a long-time member of the Mitsis Club, and loved gardening, especially day lilies.Survivors include her children, Penelope Hudson (Arnold) Wilkie of Merritt Island, Florida, Patricia Hudson (Bill) VanLandingham of Franklin, Janice Hudson Tracy of Nashville, and Peter Hudson of Columbia; grandchildren, Shelley Wilkie (Dan) Madan, Allison Wilkie (Craig) Hanney, William (Laurie) VanLandingham, Wendy VanLandingham (Anthony)Chrikos, Jeffrey (Marcy) VanLandingham, Sarah Tracy( Jon) Kieffner, and Claire Hudson; 10 great-grandchildren.Pallbearers are Arnold Wilkie, Bill VanLandingham, William VanLandingham, Jeffrey VanLandingham, Daniel Madan, Craig Hanney, and Jon Kieffner.
