Clara Elaine Jones Whitehead

Clara Elaine Jones Whitehead, 84, retired employee of Creekwood Inc, and resident of Union Place, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Life Care Center of Columbia. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 5:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 13, 1934 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Barkley Jones and the late Thelma Louise Jones. She was a 1952 graduate of Columbia Central High School and had been employed several years as an inspector at Creekwood. She was a member of South Gate Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, John Whitehead of Columbia; daughters, Teri Whitehead of Columbia and Darla Hines of Old Hickory; granddaughter, Bethany Putnam (Raymond) Davis of Columbia; great grandchildren, Madison Putnam, Landan Davis, Jacob Davis; brother, Larry (Freda) Jones of Columbia; sister, Norma (Ronald) Boyette of Shelbyville; sisters-in-law, Faye Jones and Peggy Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
